An international social media page of Buick (Saudi Arabia) just posted an image in the middle of a steering wheel of the brand with what seems to be a ‘new’ Buick logo.
But it’s different from the traditional diagonal aligned shields inside the rings, which created a lot of controversy among automobile aficionados and fueled rumors that Buick was planning to change or logo rebrand its previous emblem.
Some people love the new look, while others think it is too sleek and modern for a brand like Buick. In this blog post, we will look at the new logo and discuss what changes may be in store for Buick fans!
Overview of the Buick Brand
Founded in 1899, Buick Motor Company is one of America’s oldest car brands and has been a part of General Motors since 1908. The company is based in Detroit, Michigan, and makes automobiles and SUVs for the North American market.
Buick is typically associated with luxury, comfort, and performance. It has a long history of producing some of America’s most popular cars.
Some of the Buicks’ most popular models include the LaCrosse, Regal, Enclave, and Verano. The news about the logo redesign is not new for Buick.
Since its launch in 1937, the logo has undergone seven redesigns, with its current one being the most popular. Let’s start off by checking the current Buick logo design.
Current Buick Logo Design
Buick uses a symbol of prestige with its famous “tri-shield” emblem logo– red, white, and blue, and a silver circle around them. It removed old elements like the checkered diagonal checkered link running from the upper left corner to the lower right corner, antlered deer head, gold cross, and even the hawk mascot.
The current logo emphasizes the three shields, which is said to be representing the three of the most iconic Buick models, namely, LeSabre, Invicta, and Electra.
It has been in use since 1990 and is instantly recognizable in advertising and marketing. But with the rumored new logo design, what do we know so far?
New (Rumored) Buick Logo
Besides the earlier photo we’ve mentioned, a trademark filing from General Motors was made public at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) office last March 16.
Despite the fact that the Buick new logo “has not yet been assigned to an examiner,” another shot of what looks to be the Electra model is circulating online.
It’s now polished, with the tri shield logo detached from the rings and positioned horizontally. Instead of a diagonal strike, there appears to be a curving line inside the circles.
This suggests that, while it may not have been utilized in the United States, it may have been released worldwide, such as in the Middle East. The new mark is anticipated to be used on everything, including vehicles, keychains, jewelry, and more!
But, Why Now?
Several rumored reasons influenced this decision. After all, GM has also tweaked other automobile brands like the Cadillac.
However, one of the key factors is that Opel, a German vehicle manufacturer, is no longer a partner. Instead of simply cutting the whole brand, Buick is ready to start a fresh start.
And one of the best ways they can is by changing what has once been known as a logo design.
What Are Your Thoughts?
Earlier this month, GM Authority has shared the monochromatic version of the logo. Yet, the social media images we’ve seen earlier are the first time we’re seen how its iconic colors were applied to the badge.
But, at the end of the day, rumors are rumors, and Buick has yet to publicly unveil the design.
We don’t know how long it will take for the trademark to be finalized, so we may not see any new logos on the US market for a few months.
We’ll simply have to wait for the next model, such as the Regal replacement or the new electric vehicle featured in GM’s Superbowl ad, which is expected to be delivered this year or in the following year!
We’re fans of all @GM EVs, but this summer we will show you our dreams of a groovy electric future. ⚡️ We’re sure a mastermind who makes his own quasi-futuristic clothes will be impressed. 🤯 https://t.co/7r3Czy8CXV pic.twitter.com/e1XzwFEVsJ
